A CLASSIC AIRCRAFT

 The Hawker Hurricane was designed by Sir Sidney Camm as a private Venture.

The prototype K5083 first flew on 6th november 1935 at Brooklands, Surrey. with Flt.Lt. P.W.S.Bulman at the controls.

Total production was 14,670, the last one built "The Last of the Many" is still flying today with The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Some of the places the Hurricanes have served in W.W.2 :- The Battle of France, The Battle of Britain 1940, Norway, Malta, Russia, North Africa and Burma.

At various stages of its history the Hurricane was armed with Machine guns, cannons, Bombs and Rockets.

The aircraft was a stable gun platform and could take a large amount of punishment but at the same time it was quite easy to repair.

The Hurricane served with a number of air forces throughout the world.
